Tokyo at Your Feet

image

1 Tembo Galleria (450 m / 1476 ft)

Welcome to the highest spot in Japan, where you can walk from the 445th floor to the very top at 451.2 meters (Sorakara Point). A gentle slope connects the two floors and offers expansive views of the city. This floor is often less crowded and is a popular vantage point to see Mt. Fuji and Tokyo Tower.

Tip

The Tembo Galleria and sloping walkway are ideal spots for daytime photos since they have the best light.

2 Tembo Deck (350 m / 1148 ft)

The largest deck of the tower offers 360° panoramic views of Tokyo that stretch to the ocean and mountains that surround this capital city. Look down to spot landmarks like Asakusa's Sensoji Temple, the Imperial Palace and the skyscrapers of Shinjuku. On clear days you can see over 70 kilometers away! This is a great spot to start your Tokyo adventure since you will be able to see the entire city from above and plan where to go and what to see!

Tip

Pick up your tickets just before sunset to see the city bathed in a golden glow, watch the city glitter in the dark and then walk through Tembo Galleria while it is lit up in that day's special color.

Floor 340 (340 m / 1148 ft)

Even if you aren't a fan of taking shots of your feet, the view of Tokyo 340 meters below may inspire you enough to capture a picture or two. Standing atop the glass floor may take a bit of courage, but is a thrill nonetheless. Sit on one of the benches or park yourself by the counter to snap a few photos with your friends and family.

Tip

Want to spend a little more time at the top of Tokyo? SKYTREE CAFE on the 340th floor offers light snacks, drinks and truly adorable ice cream parfaits at surprisingly reasonable prices for the location. At night get a glass of sparkling wine and toast to the glittering lights from the bar counter.

3 Tembo Shuttle (Elevator)

Elevator rides aren't normally exciting, but watching the numbers climb at breathtaking speed as Tembo Shuttle sweeps you up 350 floors to the Tembo Deck in just 50 seconds definitely is. Be sure to take a look at the interior design of each of the elevators since they are all lavishly decorated to invoke the feeling of a different season. Our favorites are definitely the 'summer' and 'spring'-themed ones!

When to Go

Aim to visit on weekdays, as many Japanese visitors come to enjoy the views on weekends and holidays. From December to March Tokyo is mostly blessed with good weather, making it a great time to get a clear view from the top. Although the sights are stunning throughout the day, the transition from sunset to twilight and finally to the glittering nightscape is not only spectacular, but quite romantic too!

Plan your itinerary with ease using these tips. Discover some of the best spots around the iconic tower... and even a few tips for romantic occasions!

  • Gion Tsujiri

    Eating TOKYO SKYTREE

Not only can you visit the tower, you can eat it too! Inside the TOKYO Solamachi shopping area you can find lots of different sweets, treats and even entire meals shaped like the iconic building! Some of our favorites are the huge SKYTREE-shaped tempura or sushi rice bowls at Edo Tokyo Sushisune, or the themed Tonkatsu Plate (for 3-4 people) from Saboten. For dessert, head to Gion Tsujiri for their luscious matcha icecream parfaits, limited to this shop.

  • Asakusa Amezaiku Ameshin

    Instagenic Spots

The iconic shots to take from the top of TOKYO SKYTREE are the view of Mt. Fuji on clear days, and capturing your silhouette against the shifting colors of the sunset. To take perfect photos of the entire tower, head over to Sumida Park by Asakusa. During the winter months, don't miss the illuminations at the foot of the tower as sparkling lights brighten the whole area after sunset. Visitors with a sweet tooth should check out the incredible, picture-perfect sugary art at Asakusa Amezaiku Ameshin in TOKYO Solamachi!

  • Sky Restaurant 634

    Romantic Moments at TOKYO SKYTREE

Celebrate a special anniversary, enjoy a romantic date or even make an unforgettable proposal at the world's tallest tower. We recommend gazing down at the evening lights from the North side of the tower if you want a view to remember. Looking for a quiet spot to pop the question? The Dome Garden on the 8th floor of the TOKYO Solamachi complex has benches and an incredible view of the landmark rising right above you. For a special dinner, look no further than the Sky Restaurant 634 or the Top of Tree Lounge... but make sure to book in advance!

  • Double SKYTREE

    Secret Spots

Tucked right behind the Sumida Aquarium, the Farm Garden offers a quiet spot to gaze up at the tower and enjoy a cup of coffee. Check out the Dome Garden during the day, where you can see the 'Double SKYTREE' mirrored in the adjacent building. If you are dropping by in the evening, have a look at the schedule for the SKYTREE ROUND THEATER® projections, which change regularly and add an extra bit of fun to a Tembo Deck visit.
